Why AALAS Certification?

The AALAS Certification program shows that you are a dedicated professional willing to go the extra mile to learn more than just the basics regarding the animals within your care.

There are three levels of technician certification:

ALAT - Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician

LAT - Laboratory Animal Technician

LATG - Laboratory Animal Technologist

Each level builds upon the knowledge learned from the previous curriculum. As your knowledge grows, so to can your responsibilities as many facilities in the Portland area tie promotions to advanced certification.

Meet Your Instructor

Kati is a manager, instructor, and grad student who tries to fit in more in a day than should be possible. This is all due to the support of many loving friends who remind her that the reward is more than worth the struggle.

She has a passion for All Things Animals, and has dedicated her 30+ year career to improving the welfare of the animals under her care.

She is owned by two cats, a whippet who loves hunting rats more than showing in confirmation, and a fish tank that truly is its own personality. She’s co-owned by an amazing Service Dog, and her beautiful handler. #ThingsThatOnlyMakeSenseToDogShowFolks

This program was developed as part of her course curriculum.
